Illinois Law Requires Schools to Post No Concealed Carry Signs
Illinois Law Requires Schools to Post No Concealed Carry Signs
Pawnee CUSD # 11 has an ongoing commitment to student safety and security in the form of “no concealed carry” signs posted around Pawnee CUSD # 11 school building.
Illinois’ concealed carry law was passed in 2013 and allows individuals to apply for licenses to carry a concealed firearm. However, carrying a concealed weapon is prohibited in school buildings or on school property, according to the law (430 ILCS 66/).
In an effort to keep students safe and to be in compliance with state law, Pawnee CUSD # 11 will be displaying Illinois State Police issued signs on school doors to remind those with concealed carry licenses that firearms are not permitted in Pawnee CUSD # 11 buildings or on school grounds.
Pawnee CUSD # 11 value parent participation in our schools and we appreciate your cooperation with this security measure. Thank you for your commitment to safety in Pawnee CUSD # 11’s schools.
